‘Dying For A Cuppa’

A Reflection on My Accredited Training in June 2025

I attended the ‘Dying for a Cuppa’ Online Learning Masterclass led by Katie Costello, a soul midwife, this week.

It is a supportive in-depth death education programme. I felt it would be a good idea to attend as I care for my Mum who is living with dementia and as part of my professional CPD as a funeral Celebrant. I am always looking to extend my knowledge and this was really interesting and supportive to my two roles.

It was an online course that lasted seven hours with information and discussions aplenty with the other attendees.

As a Celebrant I sit with families and with couples too who share stories and memories of their loved ones as I help them prepare for the Celebration of Life funerals as well as creating wedding ceremonies that include tender words or a poem in remembrance of their loved ones.

Being able to listen and to hold the space for people when they want to talk about their recent experiences or memories is an important part of my role and this training has given me the opportunity to reflect on this and to continue to develop my skills in this type of support.

Thank you to Katie and the very knowledgeable attendees who gave me this opportunity to build my expertise.
